At least, that's what the people at Autotrader have to say. Recently they put together their 2019 edition of the "10 Best Cars for Dog Lovers," and the Honda Fit received recognition as one of their top choices. Recognized for its affordability and versatility, the Honda Fit is ideal for taking your pooch on a ride to Baldwin Dog Park.

Autotrader editors deemed these factors to be assets when considering a vehicle that's appropriate for transporting your four-legged friends:

  • Tinted windows. These help keep your dog cool even in the heat of summer, but don't use their presence as a reason to leave your pet unattended in a parked car.
  • Rear air vents. These also help keep your dog feeling fresh, since cool air circulates around them.
  • A level cargo floor. Dogs find it easier to get in and out of a vehicle when there's a level floor to jump onto, and it's much easier to carry your dog's bed or crate when the floor is even.
  • A low load-in area. Small dogs especially find this useful, but it's also considerate for older dogs or those with slight mobility problems.
  • Cargo area tie-downs. Convenient for securing your dog's crate, tie-downs also offer ideal points to attach a harness or help keep barriers in place.

The editors also noted that leather seats may be easier to clean, but observed that cloth seats have their advantages as well. Given that the Honda Fit enjoys a tall roofline, boasts rear seats that fold flat, and offers available heated leather seating, it's no wonder that this versatile hatchback earned recognition for its pup-friendly nature.
